Technology is moving at a quicker pace bringing change to the business world as well. Businesses that were once indulged in the idea of marketing through traditional means have now moved towards the Internet for the same. Similarly, with the boom of smart phones, many businesses have now shifted towards making their services accessible to the customers on their handheld devices.

Websites were used to be viewed from the laptop, however; people these days are short of time and hence, cannot spend hours sitting in front of their laptops while searching for what is needed. Mobile phones, in the current time, have replaced laptops as people tend to use their phones for the sake of using the Internet together with viewing websites and performing purchase activities.

It is the smart phone through which marketing is being done since it is the most convenient medium to reach to the potential customers. However; a major concern, when it comes to using websites through the smart phone, is that of an unresponsive interface. Often the interface of the websites tends to get disoriented when viewed through the smart phone while leaving the visitors annoyed and dissatisfied. In order to cater to the problem, responsive websites have been introduced, which are built in a manner that they adjust their interface to that of the device while causing least difficulty, to the visitor, in obtaining a complete view of the site.

Apart from its flexible nature, there are several other benefits that come along with a responsive web design. Here is a list of a few reasons why businesses need to opt for responsiveness in their designs.

Flexibility at The Least Cost

An alternative option to a responsive site is that of creating a different website for each device it could be viewed on. Though doable, this might serve as an extremely expensive option. On the other hand, a responsive website needs just a single website to be built while an algorithm working at the back of the site allows it to adjust its interface with that of the device.

Credibility

A responsive site provides the users with a great user interface and a smooth user experience, all of which increase the credibility of the site. A site that has been built poorly is likely to reflect a business that is low on its budget. Such a business hence is likely not to gain credibility. Therefore; in order to foster trust, a business’s website should be built at high-quality and with precision.

Search Engine Optimization

Google tends to optimize responsive sites in its searches while bringing them to the top. Hence, a responsive website is likely to gather more views than an unresponsive one as a result of search engine optimization.

Navigation

Responsive sites contain a great interface and hence, it is easier to navigate through these sites as compared to a site that is not mobile responsive. The call to action icons on a responsive site are also clear which makes it easier for the visitors to move from one page to the other.

Legible Text

The text on a responsive website is legible enough to be read without zooming in or out of the page. This provides the visitors with the convenience of viewing the whole page with ease while not being required to zoom or scroll horizontally for the sake of a complete view of the website.

Videos

Often websites that contain videos and are unresponsive tend to display a part of the video on the view able screen whereas; the other half of it remains hidden due to the screen being cut disproportionately. This causes the visitors difficulty in viewing the video since only a part of it remains visible to them. However; in case of a responsive site, the visitors can enjoy the complete video without the hurdle of scrolling and rotating the phone for the sake of a complete view.

Conclusion

Responsive websites have gathered worldwide attention and have become mandatory for all the businesses. Companies that lack a responsive site are considered fallacious and unreliable.

Websites, as a matter of fact, are the face of a business and hence, it being responsive is an obligation that businesses need to fulfill for the sake of enhanced engagement and increased sales.
